Hello 2011.
I can't say I am sorry to see 2010 go. It was the first year without my father-in-law. We moved, twice. We struggled to keep my mother-in-law out of her misery. A dear friend of mine lost her beloved son in the most horrific way imaginable. We tried to sell our house, failed twice and finally after over a year got it out of our hands. We tried and failed to get pregnant. My job became increasingly more difficult. Charming kept losing more of his income. My grandfather had several health problems. And to top off the year, all of our Christmas decorations were stolen from our front yard early New Year's Eve.
I'm not saying good things didn't happen this past year. But when I look over the past year all I can seem to see is the negative aspects. Perhaps I should work on my positivity for the new year.
I don't usually make New Year's resolutions but this year I decided I would try really hard to do two things. Swear less and blog more. The first one is because I do it entirely too often and if I am going to someday be someone's mother I should probably start watching my mouth. The second is because my life is missing something and I am wondering if that thing is blogging. Writing here has always made me feel better so perhaps it is time for me to start up my therapeutic process again.
In order to jump start (force) my blogging I decided to start a 30 day blog challenge I have seen on other blogs. New year, new posts, new dedication. Each day I will be blogging about something different according to the list below:
Day 1 – your favorite song
Day 2 – your favorite movie
Day 3 – your favorite television program
Day 4 – your favorite book
Day 5 – your favorite quote
Day 6 – 20 of your favorite things
Day 7 – a photo that makes you happy
Day 8 – a photo that makes you angry/sad
Day 9 – a photo you took
Day 10 – a photo taken over 10 years ago of you
Day 11 – a photo of you recently
Day 12 – something you are OCD about
Day 13 – a fictional book
Day 14 – a non-fictional book
Day 15 – your dream house
Day 16 – a song that makes you cry (or nearly)
Day 17 – an art piece (drawing, sculpture, painting, etc)
Day 18 – your wedding/future wedding/past wedding
Day 19 – a talent of yours
Day 20 – a hobby of yours
Day 21 – a recipe
Day 22 – a website
Day 23 – a YouTube video
Day 24 – where you live
Day 25 – your day, in great detail
Day 26 – your week, in great detail
Day 27 – your worst habit
Day 28 – whats in your handbag/purse
Day 29 – hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days
Day 30 – a dream for the future
Anyone want to take the over/under on when I quit?
Since January has 31 days in it I am starting this little experiment tomorrow. Stay tuned to more posts than you probably ever wanted from me. I apologize in advance.

Setting a themed blog schedule is a pretty interesting idea and definitely a good way to give you some accountability when you make that sixtybillionth promise to yourself that you will write more consistently. I don't know if I'm going to be as ambitious but I like how you're thinking! Good luck, lady! Theme or not, whatever ends up on your blog is always worthwhile. Happy New Year to you and Charming!
Love it! And looking forward to more from you.
You are one of the few bloggers who rely on the quality of your writing rather than nice photos. In other words...you rock, girl!
:)
I'm not a big believer in the whole "new year/new leaf" thing. My thinking is that it is what it is, and will be whatever it's going to be. We do have some degree of control in how we let it affect us, but, ultimately, it's already predestined, so... shrug.
- but for you I will hope that eveyrone else's view of the New Year as a time for change, improvement and a better life is true and echo your wish for better things.
Fun! I like the challenge idea, maybe I should try it! 2011 will be better, it has to be. Hugs!
I agree-- positive mindset is definitely a big one to work towards, all the time. I try to do it as much as I can, and yeah, it's HARD sometimes. But worth doing! I support your goal to be more positive!
Swearing less? Ehhh... I LIKE swearing. I like when you swear. So I can't support that goal. ;-)
Blogging more: This 30 day challenge thing looks FUN! I think I want to try it, too, because it's a really fun writing exercise. I look forward to reading your words on all of these topics. Have fun!
I am stealing this and I am going to do it with you... except probably a day or so behind... We can be each other's support system lol. I am now your accountabili-buddy! lol
I LOVE this challenge! Can I borrow it?? I am thrilled that you are blogging again, I miss you when you arent blogging.
Amanda, I think 2010 was a horrible year for a lot of people, I am glad it is gone, and I pray for a better 2011 for everyone.
