The One With The Birthday Wishes

Today is my baby brother's 30th birthday.

Which makes me...I don't want to talk about it.

My little brother is 30! This is so hard for me to wrap my head around because when I think of my brother I think of him being...well, young. And not that 30 is old, just now that he is 30 it is difficult to see him as my "little brother." Because I'm in my 30s and I'm not little, or a baby. I guess this milestone has now firmly placed him in the younger brother category.

T and I are the kind of brother and sister that love to pick on each other. It started young, as soon as I realized I could make him do anything I wanted and then blame him for any fallout. Unfortunately he caught on to that by the time he was six or so and then it became an all out war between us. The war of Who Could Annoy The Other Sibling More (And Make Them Cry) War. I am sorry to say my brother often won these daily battles, due to the fact he would team up with my father for all out tickle fests directed at me, but I ultimately won the war.

Simply because I am older.

My poor brother had to go through life listening to "Oh, you're Princess' brother! Oh we LOVE her! We expect great things from you too!" He had to live up to the reputation of an older sister who not only was an overachiever but a complete suck-up. He got compared to me practically all of our lives. I never realized, until I got older, how unfair this was on my brother. If he didn't live up to my expectations people looked down on him. But he is his own person, he has his own interests and wants and they are completely different from mine. He is an amazing photographer and a great salesman. He is quiet and thoughtful but knows how to have a good time. He is a prankster and a true friend. He is himself and I am proud to call him my brother. So I am taking this opportunity to officially resign my title of winner to the war of WCATOSM(AMTC) War and call it a draw. Because my brother? He turned out all right, despite having to deal with me as his sister.

Happy Birthday to the best brother a girl could have. T, I love you and wish you the happiest of days! And try to get your butt out here to see your stupid sister again soon. Us 30-somethings need to stick together.
